BACKGROUND

Watchnxt started with a personal frustration. I often found myself saving movies and dramas across different platforms, only to forget about them or spend far too much time deciding what to watch next. I wanted to bring everything together and make choosing something to watch a little easier.

CONTEXT

Keeping track of movies and dramas across different platforms can get messy. And even when you have a list of things you want to watch, deciding what to pick next can be surprisingly difficult. I saw an opportunity to bring these experiences together in one place and make discovering what to watch feel more enjoyable.

APPROACH

I focused on two things: simplifying entertainment tracking and making the process of choosing more fun. Alongside a unified library for movies and dramas, I explored a spin-the-wheel experience that helps users narrow down their options and leave the final choice to chance.

METHODOLOGY

I started by identifying the core problems and mapping out the product's key features and interactions. From organising watchlists to deciding how ratings, reviews, and recommendations should work, I established product rules to keep the experience consistent. I then translated these decisions into user flows and interface designs.

INSIGHTS

Everything in one place

Switching between platforms makes it harder to keep track of what you've watched and what you still want to explore. A unified library can make the experience simpler and more organised.

Too many choices can make choosing harder

Having a long list of saved titles doesn't always make the next choice easier. Sometimes, a little structure and an element of surprise can help.

Tracking should feel rewarding

Marking titles as completed, rating them, and sharing reviews can become part of the enjoyment rather than just another task to manage.

FINAL CONCEPT

Watchnxt is a web app that brings movies and dramas into one place. Users can organise their watchlists, explore titles, check streaming availability, share reviews, and suggest titles to friends. At the heart of the experience is a spin wheel that helps users decide what to watch next, turning an everyday dilemma into something a little more fun.

CONCLUSION

Watchnxt challenged me to look at a familiar, everyday frustration as an opportunity for thoughtful product design. Beyond bringing entertainment tracking together, the project pushed me to consider how features, interactions, and product rules can work together to create a cohesive experience. It reminded me that good design isn't always about adding more options; sometimes, it's about making the next step easier.
